knives-2As I sat in the “living room” the other day looking around, I realized we have a lot of knives. A knife for every occasion. A reason not to attack Katie and Jessie on a boat. knives-3

knives-4How many bikinis can two girls have? Another overstocked item. Apparently we do a bad job of keeping inventory. I justify the amount of knives, with these bikini’s. Because if we are going to wear bikinis, we best have a way to fend off the pirates, and the banjo players with missing teeth.knivesA GPS tracker in case of emergency. One button contacts immediate family for “non-emergency help” Another contacts Towboat-US, and one contacts the Coast Guard. We have yet to use any of those buttons. Knock on wood. You may be wondering why there is pepper spray and pink dice in this photo. I have no answer for you.knives-6 On a more serious note, every girl who lives on a boat needs a pair of cowboy boots. knives-5Some books that may or may not have helped us along the way. Sources of knowledge, entertainment, and inspiration.

The amount of goods stowed away on Louise is endless, I could go on and on. It is a fascinating combination of how much we actually have, verses how little we live with. Does that make any sense?

  1. Love the inventory, you guys! Just a thought–you might consider picking up a can of WASP SPRAY as an alternate to the pepper spray because it can shoot 10-20 feet. (It might also fend off unwanted white, anglo-saxon, protestants!).

  2. Hi Katie and Jessie! Sounds like you girls have lots of protection-nobody in their right mind would mess with you and those pink dice!
Nathan and I should be headed into Fort Myers Saturday or Sunday and were looking for any local input on lower rate marinas or really good anchorages nearby…we may be in the area until we can pick a good crossing day to Naples.
Love your blog and look forward to reading about your next stage!

    1. Hey guys!
Moss Marine is the most conveniently located… it’s right inside the channel when entering from the north, and right in the middle of town. Just south of the bridge is a mooring field, and even farther south is plenty of anchorage. Caution, it is shallow in the channel! We ran aground several times in the channel entering “the back bay” where all the boats go anchor/moor I recommend timing it with a higher tide. We draw 4’3” Yall should be just fine though, for there are a ton of sailboats back there. Unfortunately I don’t have any recommendations for cheap marinas, they all run about the same. Salty Sams, and Snook Bight are among some others… Snook is located right next to a publix grocery store, and Salty Sams is not on the island, and farther away from anything convenient. Hope that helps a little! Thanks for reading our blog, happy to see that you guys are doing the same thing, i love it : )

      1. Thanks for the great advice! We are pulling in today and it looks like decent weather for a crossing tomorrow! If you busy ladies have any free time this afternoon to visit, we will be at the Bodwitch Point docks until they kick us out 😉 We are meeting up with another couple who are interested in sailing (motoring, really) their sailboat down from MI and are looking for some insight into the process and who, I am sure would love your witty take on it as well!

        Thanks again!
